Pre-existing garden

To design and create your garden, we work through the following six-stage design process:

1 – Garden Design Consultation

An initial meeting to assess the existing garden and discuss your requirements and ideas. We will consider how the garden could potentially be designed, your likes and dislikes, and the features that are important to you. This information will help to create your personal design brief.

2 – Garden Design Brief & Fee Proposal

Following the consultation, we will provide you with a written design brief and fee proposal.

3 – Site Survey & Analysis

Once we’ve agreed upon the brief, we carry out a full survey of the site to collect measurements, take photographs and make notes on details such as the aspect, drainage, views and the condition of the soil.

4 – The Layout Plan

This will be prepared on the basis of the design brief and the other information collected and will show the hard landscaping, the areas to be planted and any features to be included. Accompanying construction notes will detail the materials, products and building specifications to be used. This will be required for the contractor to cost and build the garden as intended.

5 – The Planting Plan

Either in conjunction with the layout plan, or following its approval, this will show the positions and spacing of all the trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, grasses, ferns and bulbs to be used in the garden. This will be accompanied by a plant schedule for the nursery order, listing their botanical names, quantities, sizes and cost.

6 – Project Managemant

We are available to oversee the implementation of the completed design from start to finish. We will invite landscape contractors to quote for the works to be carried out, and liaise between you and the appointed contractor throughout the construction process to ensure that the design is properly realised.
